Soul Keeping: Caring for the Most Important Part of You

The health of your soul isn’t just a matter of saved or unsaved. It’s the hinge on which the rest of your life hangs on. It’s the difference between deep, satisfied spirituality and a restless, dispassionate faith.
In an age of materialism and consumerism that tries to buy its way to happiness, many souls are starved and unhealthy, unsatisfied by false promises of status and wealth. We’ve neglected this external part of ourselves, focusing instead on the temporal concerns of the world — and not without consequences.

PRAYER PRECONFERENCE led by Contemplative Outreach Hawaii
Be Still and Know: Contemplative Prayer Mini Retreat

This day is set aside for participants to spend time learning and experiencing Christian contemplative practices. Contemplative practices facilitate and deepen our relationship with God. They are an opportunity to invite the Indwelling Presence into everything we do. Contemplative practices give us the eyes to see and the ears to hear God calling us to the banquet.

This mini-retreat provides an opportunity to spend time with God by yourself and in fellowship with others. Members of Contemplative Outreach of Hawaii will lead us in discussions and prayer periods for a joyful day together. They will introduce or refresh topics such as Lectio Divina (prayerful reading of sacred scriptures), Centering Prayer (Christian silent prayer/meditation), Welcoming Prayer (Christian moving meditation), Daily Examen (a prayerful reflection of the events of the day), and Spiritual Direction (the practice of being with people as they attempt to deepen their relationship with the Divine).

Our facilitators will also provide ideas and strategies for you to consider continuing a contemplative prayer practice at home or with your friends after the conference.
